Know that your original historic artifact has not been altered in creating your new print. Your original, fragile photograph should be stored safely in an archival environment--while you enjoy the restoral of that image in the newly made print , as seen here on the right. The original tones of the old photo may be maintained or altered (sepia tones were rendered black&white here), and imperfections corrected, depending on your needs. Although only one original photograph may have existed, now it becomes possible for several family members to become caretakers of the newly restored image--similar to the common practice of producing several photographic prints from a single negative. |
